David Hunley, DVM, DACVIM (Oncology)

David Hunley,

DVM, DACVIM (Oncology)

Dr. David Hunley is a board-certified medical oncologist and our Chief of Staff.

Dr. Hunley has now spent many years in the profession, as an assistant professor at Louisiana State University, as the sole medical oncologist in Rhode Island at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists, as the first full-time specialist at Gold Coast Center for Veterinary Care on Long Island, teaching at Long Island University, speaking at veterinary events, and treating oncology patients at various specialty centers across the Northeast.

At VSEC, Dr. Hunley's role as Chief of Staff is to help the hospital grow, function smoothly, and to help create the patient-focused and team-based approach that is at the heart of the VSEC philosophy. He is determined to demonstrate this approach to the new generation of veterinarians and as well as work with the local veterinary community to show how different it can be to be a part of an independent specialty and emergency center.

Outside of work, Dr. Hunley enjoys traveling, hiking, disc golf, college basketball, fantasy football, and continuing to look upon the world with wonder. He has a remarkable wife and two grown children (also remarkable!), as well as a persnickety cat (Oliver) and a quirky small dog (Finn), all of whom keep him on his toes.
